ASO deadline legislation signed by Polish president

Polish president Bronislaw Komorowski has signed legislation confirming the end of July 2013 as the final date for analogue switch off (ASO) in Poland. The new legislation will come into effect within 14 days after its signing by the president, which took place on 8 July 2010.
According to the newly enacted law, publicly owned TVP together with other broadcasters, (including four completely new channels that licenses have been recently awarded to) will operate the first out of three multiplexes in the country. The approved digital terrestrial transmission (DTT) law requires TVP and the main commercial broadcasters (Polsat, TVN, Polskie Media, Puls) to participate actively in the campaign promoting
