SME - new target for Polish group buying market
2011-11-28
NNV, a Swiss owner of
Firmy.net (a portal promoting Polish e-commerce players), introduced a new group buying site,
Okazje.firmy.net. The site's objective is to create favourable conditions for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enter and operate in the Polish e-commerce market.
Currently, there are approximately 50 group shopping platforms registered, which is shown in the latest report of Internet Standards. However, only a few of them are widely recognisable among Poles. The most recognizable player is
Groupon.pl, which
remains the largest player in the domestic group buying market with an estimated net revenue of PLN 22m (€5.5m) in 2010, accounting for about a 76% share in the reviewed market. A strong position is also held by
Gruper.pl, which in 2010 generated net revenues in the amount of PLN 4m (€1m), equaling a 14% share in the market.
According to the strategy of Okazje.firmy.net, through attracting SMEs and introducing group shopping in the small towns, it can be a way to compete with the largest market players which operate mostly in large cities.
