Poland ninth in EU for penetration of mobile internet

Poland was ranked ninth in EU for mobile internet services with a penetration at 8.16%, as follows from the report published by the Polish Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) in January 2012.
Finland was ranked first with 33.96%, while in the second and third positions were Sweden and Austria with mobile penetration penetration rates of 20.24% and 19.83%, respectively. Poland passed the United Kingdom (8.02%), Germany (5.99%) and France (4.43%), among others.
Poland reported stable growing dynamics in internet mobile penetration, which amounted to only 4.67% in Q2 2009 versus 8.18% in Q2 2011 -- although, according to data from Digital Agenda Scoreboard, it was 8.16%. The number of mobile internet modems sold over the reviewed two-year period grew by 1.3 million reaching 3.1 million units in Q2 2011.
