Poland sees dropping mobile internet prices

Mobile internet services became less costly while transfer limits grew, found the Office of Electronic Telecommunications (UKE) in its analysis of prices for mobile internet services in Poland, published in January 2012.
As UKE reported, the prices for mobile internet services in January 2012 were lower in the country compared to May 2010. In addition, post-paid offers dropped 11.1% on average in the case of individual customers and 12.8% in the case of offers for business clients. Almost all suppliers of mobile internet services in the country decreased their prices for mobile services, particularly with data transfer limits in the range of 10-20 Gb, where the monthly package was cheaper even by 33.9% (individual clients) and 37.7% (business clients). In case of post-paid offers, monthly costs dropped by 40.7% on average in the period under review.
Average monthly costs of mobile internet in offers for individual post-paid clients varied between PLN 15.50 (€3.69) and PLN 162.13 (€38.37). Among offers with the lowest limits (up to 5 Gb) the lowest price was provided by PolsatNet (offered by the largest Poland’s DTH platform,
Cyfrowy Polsat). In the ranges of 5-10 Gb and 10-20 Gb, the most competitive offer, in terms of price, was presented by
Play (operated by
P4). In the category of high transfer limits, the most competitive offer belonged to
Orange (operated by
PTK Centertel) with its Orange Free 99 service of 21 Gb package for monthly cost of PLN 95.48 (€22.60).
Monthly costs for offers dedicated to business post-paid clients fluctuated in January 2012 between PLN 15.50 (€3.69) and PLN 159.48 (€37.69). In the category with the lowest limits, similar to individual customers, the best offer was presented by PolsatNet with the price of PLN 15.50 (€3.69), while the most attractive offers in ranges 5-10 Gb and 10-20 Gb were Play Online 49 and Play Online 69 for monthly cost PLN 49.42 (€11.69) and PLN 59.42 (€14.06), respectively.
Average monthly costs for internet mobile services for pre-paid clients amounted to PLN 27.09 (€6.41). The cheapest pre-paid internet option was available at offer of
T-Mobile (operated by
PTC) for PLN 24.96 (€5.91).
