Telecomunications operators to be subject to new accounting rules

On 30 December 2003 a new Ordinance of the Minister of Infrastructure comes into effect which deals with the introduction of regulation accounting and the methods employed to calculate costs by telecom operator with significant market position. According to an official statement released by the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) earlier the same month, there are four operators with such a position on the Polish telecommunications market, the three mobile operators, Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa, Polkomtel and PTK Centertel, and TP SA.
