TP SA and Centertel to merge
2007-03-15
PTK Centertel, the operator of the Orange mobile network, is to be integrated with its parent company TP SA in 2008. According to Puls Biznesu, the TP brand is to be replaced by Orange in order to save money. The merger of the two operators is also expected to result in a reduction in the workforce.
The process will be gradual: in 2007 the management board of TP SA is to assume responsibility for the implementation of PTK Centertel’s strategy. The latter’s new CEO, Grazyna Piotrowska-Oliwa, will coordinate the integration of the companies’ organisations and prepare the operators for the merger.
The Orange brand name will be gradually adopted for all of the group’s services in both the individual and corporate client markets. The introduction of one brand and the merger of the two companies is part of a strategy designed by France Telecom, the owner of the TP SA group, and presented over a year ago. It should save a few hundred million zloty.
