TP SA denies intention of merging with PTK Centertel

2007-03-23

TP SA has denied that it is preparing for a merger with its subsidiary PTK Centertel, the Orange mobile network operator. The press recently reported that the incumbent wants to adopt the Orange brand name for all of its services.
The former national operator stated that it has no intention of integrating PTK Centertel with the TP SA organisation. It emphasised that the companies will be integrated functionally and that the management structure of the entire group will be altered, but that this is not expected to result in the “physical” merger of the operators, or in the abolition of one of the brand names.

According to a company statement, no group lay-offs are in the pipeline. TP SA insists that any reduction in the workforce will be carried out in accordance with the plan approved by the trade unions.
