2007-04-19
Interia.pl, an internet portal, has launched an online radio station by cooperating with Radio Bez Kitu, an independent internet radio station in Krakow.
Radio Bez Kitu has been broadcasting over the internet since November 2002 and has been a non-profit organisation supported by membership fees. Interia.pl has stated that it wanted to have a radio station run by experienced people. It also insists that the music profile fits the portal’s expectations. The station broadcasts music genres not widely heard on FM.
Interia.pl reports that its net profit in 2006 was PLN 5.65m (€1.5m), reflecting year-on-year growth of 167%: in 2005 the company made PLN 2.12m (€0.6m). Revenues increased from PLN 39.71m (€10.45m) in 2005 to PLN 53.01m (€13.95m).
ComArch, a Cracow-based IT company, has announced a call on the shares of Interia.pl. At the moment, ComArch holds a 48.48% stake in the portal. As a result of the call on shares, the company wants to purchase shares which provide 8.14% of the votes at Interia.pl shareholder meetings. ComArch will pay PLN 64.15 (€16.9) per share, and the call will last until 10 May 2007.
