Fines for TP SA management by the end of April

2007-04-19

The Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) is to decide, by the end of April, on the size of the fines to be paid by TP SA’s management board members. The regulator wants to penalise the board members for the incumbent’s failure to introduce a bitstream access offer for the alternative operators Netia and GTS Energis.
In March, the UKE stated that the fine would be imposed on the TP SA’s CEO, Maciej Witucki, but the regulator recently explained that other members of the company’s board will also be fined. It will probably not apply to all board members, but the UKE has not yet said who will pay it. The Office sent requests to all members to submit information on their salaries. In accordance with the law, the regulator might fine a member of the management board a maximum of 300% of the person’s monthly salary. The UKE asked them also to comment on the irregularities to which the Office drew attention.
