UKE to announce tender for GSM 1800 in May
2007-04-19
The Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) will announce a tender for free GSM 1800 frequencies around mid-May 2007. At the moment, the regulator is in the process of consulting with regard to a decision on the tender. This is due to end on 23 April.
According to a UKE statement, no comments have been submitted so far and it is likely that the Office will receive any at the end of the process.
The tender will be open with regard to the future use of the frequencies: i.e. the UKE is not going to specify the services for which the band is to be used.
