UKE orders Netia and GTS to improve their BA offers
2007-04-27
The Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), has looked into the degree of compliance with the obligations imposed by the telecommunications regulations on GTS Energis and Netia with regard to the bitstream access (BA) service.
The regulator discovered that the contracts signed with clients willing to sign up for broadband with either of the operators did not have clauses governing the quality of the service, including the time taken to connect to the network and maintenance, or to the complaints procedure. The complaints procedures were inadequately or improperly described in the rules and conditions of service provision.
The President of the UKE has ordered the operators to adjust their offers in order to ensure full compliance with the regulations within 30 days. According to the regulator, the companies have improved their procedures and, as a result, the number of complaints submitted by subscribers to the UKE has declined significantly. The regulator has also announced that it is constantly monitoring the operators’ activities.
