Salary protest at Netia
2007-05-10
The “Solidarity” trade union at Netia, an alternative operator, has started a protest and is demanding that employees’ salaries should be increased in step with the salary growth index for the last five years. The union insists that salaries have not been raised during this period.
Netia insists that the dialogue between the management board and the trade unions has not been interrupted but that decisions on salary rises could not have been made because the new CEO was appointed only recently. The operator emphasises that the deadlines agreed with the unions will be met and that the company still has time to fulfil its obligations. Netia has, therefore, stated that the management board has been surprised by the action on the part of “Solidarity”. The operator has said that as “proof of goodwill” it has paid bonuses to 100 employees who worked for Netia and were then acquired by Ericsson on the basis of an outsourcing contract.
