Avon’s MVNO launch imminent
2007-05-25
Avon, the renowned producer and distributor of cosmetics, is to launch a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) by the end of May. The network, under the myAvon name, will use the infrastructure of PTK Centertel, the operator of the Orange mobile network. It will address its offer chiefly to clients and consultants who sell Avon products.
myAvon will not compete by offering lower prices than those of the other operators but is going to offer bonuses for its consultants and clients. They will receive points for pre-paid top-ups, and the points can be exchanged for discounts on cosmetic products. The company expects to have 220,000-500,000 customers by the end of 2007. The operator plans to break even within a year of the launch.
Avon is to resell telecommunications services, and PTK Centertel will deal with billing and customer service. myAvon is the second MVNO to enter the Polish telecommunications market after mBank, an online retail bank, which launched telecommunications services in mid-December 2006.
