NIK criticises SIMIK implementation
2007-05-25
The Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK) has stated that the electronic system for the supervision of EU funds in Poland (SIMIK) is an example of a failed implementation of an IT solution.
The NIK emphasised that SIMIK, which was to have gathered data on projects paid for from EU funds, is still under construction and does not work. Work on the system started in 2003 and is being carried out by the Finance Ministry (MF). In February 2007 the MF signed an agreement with the Regional Development Ministry on cooperation in the construction of the system. The NIK stressed that the deadline for the completion of SIMIK has already been moved several times.
