Polish office of Opera Software to be officially opened
2007-06-01
Opera Software, the producer of an internet browser, is to officially open its Polish office on 5 June. However, the company had previously launched its research and development centre in Wroclaw in November 2006.
The R&D facility focuses chiefly on conversion of the Opera browser for BREW mobile systems manufactured by Qualcomm as well as for Linux, Windows Mobile and Windows CE. Unofficial press reports suggest that the employees recruited at the outset were formerly working for the Polish office of BenQ, which was closed down at the end of 2006.
The company is expected to present new products, including those related to internet access via mobile devices, as well as the new version of the browser.
According to Gemius, the Opera browser is being used by around 5% of Polish internet users. The producer has also signed an agreement with PTC, the operator of Era and Heyah mobile networks, on the supply of Opera Mini for selected handsets as a part of the blueconnect internet access service.
