KRRiTV: UKE president appointed lawfully
2007-06-01
The National Broadcasting Council (KRRiTV) has stated that the procedure for appointing Anna Strezynska as the president of the UKE did not break the law. The Competition and Consumer Protection Court (the SOKiK) ruled recently that the appointment was invalid.
The KRRiTV emphasised that Ms Strezynska was appointed in accordance with the interim regulations relating to the nomination of the UKE president. This, according to the KRRiTV, allows the Prime Minister to choose the president from a shortlist provided by the KRRiTV but this is not obligatory: the Prime Minister may choose a person not listed by the Council. The latter insists, therefore, that the procedure was not violated and that Ms Strezynska was appointed lawfully.
