iPlus, the mobile internet access service offered by Polkomtel, the operator of the Plus and Sami Swoi mobile networks, is being used by more than 200,000 people, and the company is attracting 10,000 new clients every month. This was stated by Polkomtel’s CEO, Jaroslaw Bauc, in a press interview.
He said that the transfer speed of 3.6 Mbps is, at the moment, available at some locations and that the company is conducting trial runs of an upgraded version of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology, which makes possible the downloading of data at 7.2 Mbps. According to Mr Bauc, in Poland at present there is neither the technology for mobile television, nor any content which could be broadcast by this means.
