IT distribution market expected to grow in 2010

Eighty-five percent of IT retailers and wholesalers expect demand for electronic appliances and IT solutions to increase in 2010 in comparison with 2009, according to a recent report prepared by ABC Data, the largest IT distributor in Poland, which surveyed 2,000 retailers. Forty-eight percent of respondents believe that sales of IT equipment will grow by between 10% and 25% in 2010 in comparison with 2009, while 3% of retailers expect the market to grow by 75%.
Laptops, notebooks and the Windows 7 operating system are to be the bestsellers in 2010. According to 6% of the respondents, the latest version of Microsoft Windows will be the best-selling product in 2010, and 32% claimed that the release of Windows 7 was the most important IT event in 2009.
In 2009 the
IT and electronic appliance market was in decline because of the global recession. For 52% of retailers the year 2009 was worse in terms of sales than 2008, whereas for 24%, 2009 sales equalled those of 2008. In addition, 24% of retailers reported an increase in revenues in 2009 in comparison with 2008.
