MNI acquires MEC without PTC’s permission
2010-01-18
The mobile operator
Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC) has not yet approved the purchase of
Mobile Entertainment Company (MEC), the owner of the
mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Mobilking by the telecommunications group
MNI. Nonetheless,
MNI Telecom, the subsidiary of MNI, has taken control over Mobilking. The value of the transaction has not been revealed.
Mobilking, as an
MVNO, uses the infrastructure of PTC; therefore, the latter company’s permission is required when Mobilking changes the owner. Initially, the approval of PTC was a condition on which the agreement could come into force; however, after awaiting three months MEC has resigned from this condition.
