VOD system gaining popularity in Poland
2010-01-18
Agora, the owner of gazeta.pl portal, has launched a
video on demand (VOD) service that is available on the waszefilmy.gazeta.pl website. The strategic partner of the portal is
VOweb Poland, the Polish branch of VOweb, constructing video services. The customers have to watch the six minute-long advertisements that are blended into the movie in exchange for viewing content for free.
The popularity of the VOD system is gradually growing in Poland. The
TVN group in cooperation with
Onet.pl has already launched a trial stage of
VOD service that will start regular operation in the first quarter of 2010. In turn, in December 2009
Polsat, one of the largest commercial TV broadcasters in Poland, launched Ipla, an interactive multimedia platform, which currently offers around 100 movies of the largest Hollywood film companies.
