Netia interested in buying Telefonia Dialog
2010-01-22
Netia plans to buy
Telefonia Dialog, one of the largest alternative
fixed-line operators in Poland, owned by the copper producer
KGHM. The latter considers selling the telecommunications operator to a strategic investor by the end of the year.
Although KGHM does not reveal the price for which Dialog could be sold, Netia, would not have difficulties in financing a transaction as it has PLN 200m in cash and unused open credit lines for PLN 300m.
For several years Netia has been working on a market consolidation. It bought
El-Net and
Tele2 Polska telecommunications operators and several small Internet providers in Ethernet technology. In 2009, it reached 17,000 new clients via the Ethernet network and in 2010 it plans to acquire another several dozen thousand subscribers.
