2010-01-22
Info-TV-FM, the
mobile television operator, has completed the tests of its service and it now plans to change its wholesale offer in order to be more attractive for the companies that would like to distribute the television. The operator will verify fixed and variable charges as well as the upcoming broadening of the telecast by the regional programs. At present, the company is negotiating with such TV providers as, among others,
Canal Plus Cyfrowy,
Cyfrowy Polsat,
Inea and
Vectra.
In March 2009, Info-TV-FM won a tender for the operator of the mobile television using DVB-H technology and was given the frequency from the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE). It has already invested PLN 15m (€3.7m) in the project. Eventually, the project will cost PLN 100m (€24.9m) and it will be available in 31 Polish towns by 2011.
At present, the operator manages 50 transmitters located in several cities in Poland and around 5.5m Poles are within its reach. According to a survey carried out by the GfK Polonia research company, 75% of respondents are interested in subscribing to such a television service in the future.
