Inea to launch mobile phone service
2010-01-22
Inea, the largest cable television operator in the Wielkopolska region, will add mobile phone service to its offer. The service has started operating on 18 January 2010. Initially, the company will launch the phone subscription service rather than prepaid phones, offering mobile handsets for PLN 1 and two subscription packages for PLN 25 and PLN 50 per month.
The service will be available nationwide, though those customers using one of the Inea’s other services, i.e., television, internet access and fixed-line telephony, will get an additional 10 to 30 minutes per month free of charge.
In 2010, Inea expects to acquire around 10,000 subscribers. It will invest PLN 71m (€17.6m); the company does not reveal, however, how much of this sum will be spent on launching
mobile telephony. The operator also plans to invest in the development of a Next Generation Network (NGN) and WiMax, which will enable it to offer broadband mobile internet access. At present, Inea has 134,000 customers and in 2010 the figure is expected to increase to 142,000.
