IP television gaining new customers in Poland

IPTV technology is expected to develop rapidly in 2010, according to a report in
Puls Biznesu.
Telefonia Dialog, one of the largest alternative fixed-line operators in Poland, intends to acquire up to 50,000 customers, while
TP SA aims to have 0.5m of IPTV users in 2010. At present, Telefonia Dialog has 20,000 IPTV subscribers, most of whom joined the service in 2009. The company is adding up to 4,000 new users per month. In turn, TP SA, had 107,000 IPTV users at the end of September 2009.
Another operator of IPTV is
Multimedia Polska, which services 6,500 customers. The company has recently launched a new interactive television service that allows viewers to take part in the television programs such as voting or quizzes or shop online via a set top box service. Recently, also
Netia reported about its plans to launch the IP television in mid-2010.
IPTV is a technology which delivers television using the Internet and broadband Internet access networks, instead of traditional radio frequency broadcast, satellite signal, and cable television. Such technology allows the use of videoconferences, video monitoring or online shopping via a TV set.
