3D television slowly entering the Polish market
2010-03-10
Telefonia Dialog, one of the largest alternative
fixed-line operators in Poland, has commenced testing 3D television in IP technology, as
Rzeczpospolita reported. The action is being realised within the framework of the project of launching the fibre-optic infrastructure supported by EU grants. At present, the company is testing the possibility of transmitting information in the 3D presentation.
Also,
Canal+, the operator of the
Cyfra+ platform, plans to commence its own 3D television projects in 2010 in Poland. In 2010, such 3D channels are to be launched in France by Canal+ and in Great Britain by the
BSkyB operator.
According to the market representatives, 3D television will only develop in several years in Poland. At present, 3D TV sets are not widely available and are very expensive. Still, in April 2010 Samsung plans to introduce 3D-ready TV sets on the Polish market and Eutelsat plans to launch a new satellite, intended to develop the 3D technology.
