Almost half of Poles are Internet users

2010-03-10

Around 15.1 million Poles of more than 15 years of age were using the Internet in the fourth quarter of 2009, which translated into 50.2% of the population, according to the NetTrack research prepared by MillwardBrown SMG/KRC. By way of comparison, in 2005 28.1% of the Polish population were Internet users.
Most of the users (72.9%) connect to the Internet every day or almost every day. The vast majority of those who have access, 92.6%, use it at home. Almost 80% of the Internet users are hooked up via a permanent connection, while only almost 5% use dial-up.
MillwardBrown SMG/KRC does not expect the Internet market to show significant growth in the following years in Poland. The market will rather grow by around 4% year on year, unless the availability of the Internet both in terms of infrastructure and price increases.
