In 2009 mobile phone operators report first decline in revenues in history
2010-03-10
The combined revenues of the mobile phones operators in Poland decreased by 2.5%, i.e. PLN 650m (€164.1m) to PLN 25.3bn (€6.39bn) in 2009 in comparison with 2008, as Audytel advisory firm reported. It is the first decline in the history of the
Polish mobile telephony market, and comes as the effect of the Office of Electronic Communications' (UKE) decision to reduce mobile wholesale rates for calls to mobile phones. The decline in revenues was compensated, however, by higher spending of retail customers that spent PLN 1bn (€253m) more on mobile calls.
