Play’s new offer triggers competition in mobile market
2010-04-01
P4, the Play mobile
network operator, has introduced, in mid-March 2010, a new tariff under the LongPlay name that offers unlimited free calls within the network. The offer is available for the subscribers that pay PLN 69 (€17.9) and PLN 99 (€25.7) subscription fees per month. Moreover, the operator introduced a new low rate per minute of PLN 0.29 (€0.08)
According to the company’s management, the offer will "revolutionise" the market. In order to stay competitive, other mobile operators will most likely launch a number of new promotions. By way of example,
Polkomtel, the Plus GSM operator, has already cut its per minute rate to PLN 0.29 (€0.08)to all mobile networks, except Play. In turn,
PTC, the operator of Era network, argues that Play’s new offer is not revolutionary as Era has had free calls within its Siec Rodzina (family package) since 2009. Besides, in the near future, Era intends to launch a number of new offers and rates, possibly even lower than PLN 0.29 (€0.08) per minute.
