PTC revenues dwindle in Q1 2010

The
mobile operator Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC), the owner of the
Era GSM network, reported a 6.2% decline year on year in sales revenues in Q1 2010, to PLN 1.75bn (€439m). The decrease in results is the effect of lower rates for terminating connections (MTR) and lower prices.
In Q1 2010, the number of Era’s users totalled to 13.3 million of which 6.7 million were post-paid subscribers and 6.6 million were pre-paid users. The number of the latter customers went down by 204,000 compared to December 2009. In turn, the number of subscribers grew by 66,000 in the same period.
In the first three months of 2010 the subscriber acquisition cost (SAC) totalled PLN 82 (€20.6), reflecting a 23.4% decline year on year. Also, the average revenue per user (ARPU), decreased by 10.9% to PLN 41 (€10.3). In turn, the subscriber retention cost (SRC), declined by almost 50% from PLN 513 (€128.6) in Q1 2009 to PLN 265 (€66.4) in Q1 2010.
