UKE to launch tender for LTE along with 790-862 MHz spectrum

The Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has decided to launch a joint tender for the 2.6 GHz frequency, called LTE, along with 790-862 MHz spectrum. The latter band is currently held by the Army.
The tender is scheduled to be announced in the fourth quarter of 2010 and will be finalised in 2011.
Among the operators interested in the LTE band are the mobile phone operators and cable television operators. PTK Centertel, the operator of Orange mobile network, will partner P4 (Play) for the tender.
