UPC Polska: number of internet and telephony users growing

UPC Polska, the largest cable television operator in Poland, gained 10,100 new internet customers in Q2 2010. At the end of June 2010, the operator had 485,200 users. By way of comparison, TP SA, the largest internet provider in Poland, lost 1,000 Neostrada users.
Also, the number of households using UPC’s fixed-line telephony service grew by 9,700 to 208,700 by the end of June 2010. Between April and June 2010 the number of cable television customers increased by 800 to 1.01 million.
In total, however, the number of UPC’s subscribers declined by 2,000 when compared to March 2010 and equaled to 1.08 million users.
The company’s sales revenues went up by 13.5% year on year to $74.4m in Q2 2010. When calculated in Polish zloty, the turnover grew by 10% to PLN 235.2m (€58.9m).
